I’d like for them to see the coorelation between practice and achievement.

I would like for each novice to sit down with their big bro/sis after each tournament or practice round and sift through the ballots looking for common threads and marking areas for improvement.

I need to use them on a weekly basis and require students to evaluate themselves more.

Then, I would create a game-based team-building session (in collaboration with the present Speech and Debate team) with some snacks and drinks at the end to encourage socialization. At the end of that session, I would give a set of questions to the potential new members to check if the activity has changed any of their previous knowledge, believes and thoughts, as well as to measure their willingness to join the team.

Students will have to build their speech on a concept that caught their attention the previous week, and perform a 5 minutes presentation in front of their peers. Each student who is listening to that presentation will have to write down two questions they want to ask the speaker at the end of his/her performance, and choose one of them to be asked. Once a month, instead of creating questions, the students will have to share with the speaker one thing they have loved about his/her performance and another thing they suggest him/her to improve. That way all students will improve their speaking and listening skills.

Thus, we can develop strategies to practice and do some rehearsals

This also allows me to see what other students are seeing in each other and utilize that in my feedback during practice/class.
